Hey everyone, a quick update on the progress of the Ferro di Prua sculpture project. The metal is cut and ready to go, but I have one more crucial step before assembly can begin. I will resurface the stainless steel to achieve a beautiful, uniform finish. This process, known as "graining," involves each side of the sculpture panels going through the machine 11 times to achieve that elegant satin finish I’m aiming for. There are eight panels on each of the two sculptures. It's all about attention to detail!
Each of the two sculptures are made up of over 100 parts that must fit together seamlessly. Wish me luck! - Gregory Beck
For those wondering, "Ferro di Prua" translates to "Iron Bow." It's the iconic design you see at the front (bow) of Venice gondolas. Functionally, it serves as a counter-weight to the gondolier standing at the stern. Symbolically, each shape in this historic design represents an island, a district, a bridge, and even the pompous hat of the Doges of Venice. #FerroDiPruaSculpture #ArtistryInProgress #VeniceGondolaArt #MetalArtistry
